Canal Street and Peterboro Street
Dedication of Canal St. Murals and Tourist Park

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission announced that the Village of Canastota, in partnership with the Canastota Canal Town Museum, has received $7,000 to create two murals depicting the village during the heyday of the Erie Canal.
The murals, created by CNY artist Corky Goss, will convey the economic impact of the canal on Canastota.
In addition to the murals, the project includes enhancements to the park at the corner of Canal and Peterboro Streets. Donations of $9,000 were raised from Village organizations and businesses for this phase of the enhancements.
The intent of the project is to enhance the tourist experience and at the same time promote community pride and encourage local and regional business.
