Spring Canalside Talks

All Canalside Talks are at 7 pm on the second floor of the Canastota Public Library
102 W. Center Street, Canastota.

These talks are made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Canastota Canal Town Museum and the Canastota Public Library and are free to the public.

AN ERIE CANAL BOAT CAPTAIN

From its inception, the Erie Canal helped form a whole new culture revolving around canal life. For many, canal boats became floating houses, traveling from town to town. Come and share stories and adventures of the “Old Erie Canal” with Michele Henry acting as a canal boat captain.

NATHAN ROBERTS OPEN HOUSE

Saturday, June 24th from 1pm to 4pm.
Admission Ticket ~ $7.00 
includes House Tour and
free admission to the Museum.

There will be a guided tour of the Canastota home of Erie Canal engineer Nathan Roberts on June 24th from 1-4pm. This tour of the historic 1820s era home owned by  Mr. Jay Johnson, is sponsored by the Canastota Canal Town Museum. Tickets for the event and admission to the museum can be purchased at the Canastota Canal Town Museum, Public Library and at the event for $7.00.

The home is located at the corner of Route 5 and Stroud St. in Canastota with parking at the NBT Bank.

During the tour of the Nathan Roberts Home you will be able to view and ask questions about the home as well as conversing with Richard Kelly and Shirley Robinson who will be portraying Nathan Roberts and Livinia Roberts respectively. A painting of Nathan Roberts acquired with funds donated in memory of Darrell Conley by Canal Town and restored by artist Corky Goss will be unveiled. Also, items pertaining to Canastota’s history and the Erie Canal will be available for sale.
